She was a member of the softball team at her school. Gabbie Jonas was a freshman third baseman for Drake, where Casey McMillen of Omaha played. They were classmates who had both attended the ONYX honours program together.
Both were sophomores on the Drake softball team and played against Louisiana Tech (Missouri) and Southwest Missouri State University. Gabbie had a reputation for being a friendly and outgoing person who kept in touch with all of her acquaintances. She enjoyed all aspects of becoming a baseball or softball athlete since she was fascinated with everything about the sport.
